What makes rowing center Berlagebrug special?

Rowing center Berlagebrug is special for a number of reasons. First of all its location. Rowing center Berlagebrug is located near the center of Amsterdam and is an integrated part of the architecture of the Berlage bridge. Already in the architecture of the Berlage bridge in the 1930s, the Amsterdam municipal government included a boat house facility on the Weesperzijde street side of the Berlage bridge. After a busy day you can row leisurely in Amsterdam's green surroundings or through the canals in the center of Amsterdam. Furthermore, rowing center Berlagebrug has developed a rowing exam recognized by all Amsterdam rowing clubs. After learning the right rowing techniques and theory you will be eligible to enroll in a rowing club with your rowing examcertificate.

Rowing courses for all ages

The setup of rowing center Berlagebrug is unique in several aspects; no other place in the Netherlands offers the possibility to (learn how to) row, without any obligations or compulsory membership. Rowing center Berlagebrug has offered rowing programs to children, youth, adults and senior citizens, ever since 1934. Rowing center Berlagebrug aims to provide rowing courses for everyone!  A team of about fifty professional rowing instructors is present to teach you how to row. Our instructors are there to progress your rowing skills, but they also make sure you will have an enjoyable time while rowing. Many of our instructors are students that earned the respect in the rowing world as athletes. We employ some top athletes that work for Berlagebrug on a part time basis. A majority of our instructors have obtained a certified diploma from the Royal Dutch Rowing Federation (Koninklijke Nederlandse Roei Bond) as instructor/coach. Our instructors also receive training and education within the rowing center. It is fair to say that no other rowing organization has such a large and well-equipped group of rowing professionals. Rowing center Berlagebrug has a fleet of recreational boats, including 22 one person boats and 16 four persons boats. Furthermore, rowing center Berlagebrug has an inside rowing tank. Our, mainly wooden, rowing boat fleet is well-maintained by our own technical staff.
