Rowing center Berlagebrug offers a set of different courses for different ages and levels of rowers. You don't need any rowing experience to start rowing. Rowing courses at rowing center Berlagebrug start with a beginner course. Beginners start in a four person's sweep-oar (one oar you hold with two hands) boat. If you are subscribed to a rowing course you are scheduled set day and time. A rowing course takes eight weeks. After your beginner course you may proceed to advanced level courses. The beginner follow up course is the first advanced level course. This course still uses sweep-oar. From the second advanced level course on you will start sculling (using two oars, one in each hand). Standard courses are offered on Monday until Thursday evening and on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Berlagebrug offers a set of different courses apart from the standard course. On Monday and Wednesday morning people from over the age of 50 are eligible for the fifty fit course. Lessons in the fifty fit course have a 1,25 hour duration, so that there is ample time to get in and out of the boat safely. Rowing is a sport often advised by medical specialists and physiotherapists because of the way different muscle groups are used and the minimal pressure on your hinges. The fifty fit course follows the normal schedule.

On Saturday and Sunday morning Berlagebrug also offers 1,5 hour 'tour rowing' courses. These courses enable you to row for a longer time and see more of Amsterdam and its surroundings from the water. This course is offered to the professional level (more than four sculling courses followed) rowers only. The 'tour rowing' course follows the normal schedule.

Scullers who are interested in learning how to row the single sculls, Berlagebrug offers special courses. Single sculls is a one person's boat type in which the rower is sculling (using two oars). The first courses will take place in a C1 type boat. This wooden boat type is relatively wide and offers some stability. Advanced single scullers, that have passed the C1 exam, may start rowing in the skiff. The skiff is a smaller boat made out of lighter materials.
